Josephine W. Hazeley, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Josephine is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly two decades of psychiatric and mental-health nursing experience and an extensive perinatal and postpartum background, including caring for women on UNC's Perinatal & Postpartum Inpatient Unit and three years as a research nurse on the trial behind the first FDA-approved postpartum-depression therapy. She provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy. As a mother, she brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to every patient relationship.

That perinatal and postpartum background anchors the practice's specialty — a depth of experience few North Carolina prescribers bring to pregnancy and the first year after birth.

Our approach

We believe excellent psychiatric care is unhurried and collaborative. Care begins with a complete psychiatric assessment and an open conversation, then follows one tailored plan delivered through a single clinical relationship that evolves as your needs change. Medication is used thoughtfully, alongside CBT- and ACT-informed strategies, supportive therapy, and holistic wellness planning.

The practice

  • Mindful Counseling & Wellness is a North Carolina psychiatric practice founded in 2024. It holds a Certificate of Registration from the North Carolina Board of Nursing and is owned and led by a board-certified psychiatric-mental-health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Telehealth across North Carolina. Because a nurse practitioner must be licensed where the patient is located, we serve patients throughout the state of NC.
  • Operations: Jonathan Hazeley manages the day-to-day business of the practice.

Our Raleigh space

Care is delivered by telehealth across North Carolina. For the times when meeting in person is the better fit, we have a warm, professional office in Raleigh available on demand — a calm, private space for the occasional in-person visit.

The Raleigh office entrance and waiting area — sage-green walls, navy armchairs, a bright bouquet of sunflowers on the coffee table, and a patterned rug.
A cozy seating corner in the Raleigh office — a soft gray sofa with a green palm-leaf pillow beside a woven table lamp.
A private session room in the Raleigh office — a tidy desk and chair by a curtained window, framed rainforest artwork, and leafy potted plants.
