How insurance works here
Mindful Counseling & Wellness is in-network with major North Carolina health plans — currently through Headway, a behavioral-health network that contracts with health plans on the clinician's behalf, while we add our own direct plan contracts so more plans come online over time. Either way, you'll have in-network visits with a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, with billing handled for you.

- UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Oscar, and Oxford are being added as our credentialing finalizes.
- We've applied to join Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey. Nothing is confirmed yet, and we'll update this page if it goes through. Wherever your plan is based, your visits take place while you're located in North Carolina.
- We verify your specific plan before your first visit, and we don't accept Medicaid or Medicare.
- Self-pay is welcome — the initial evaluation is $300 and standard follow-up visits are $185, with sliding-scale pricing available.

When you book through Headway you'll add your plan as part of signing up, and your coverage is checked then — so you see what to expect for any copay or out-of-pocket cost before your first appointment, not after it.
Paying self-pay
Self-pay is welcome, too. The initial psychiatric evaluation is $300 and standard follow-up visits are $185, with sliding-scale pricing available. If you're uninsured or choose to pay out of pocket, you're also entitled to a Good Faith Estimate under the No Surprises Act, a clear, written estimate of expected costs before care begins. Payment policy. We keep a card on file and charge the self-pay balance up to 48 hours before your appointment. No-shows and late cancellations are billed an $80 fee.
Telehealth across North Carolina
All visits are by telehealth. Because a nurse practitioner must be licensed where the patient is physically located, you'll need to be in North Carolina for your visit.
