Where is MCW located? Do you see patients in person?
- Mindful Counseling & Wellness is a telehealth practice serving patients across North Carolina. Because a nurse practitioner must be licensed where the patient is physically located, you must be in NC for your visit.
What services do you provide?
- Psychiatric evaluations, medication management, supportive therapy, and CBT- and ACT-informed strategies, with holistic wellness planning. We have a specialty in perinatal and postpartum mental health. See Services →
What conditions do you treat?
- Anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and stress or life-transition concerns — with a focus on perinatal and postpartum mental health.
Do you take insurance?
- We are in-network now with Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Blue Cross Blue Shield; UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Oscar, and Oxford are in process. Self-pay is welcome, too. See insurance →
How much does it cost?
- For self-pay, the initial psychiatric evaluation is $300 and standard follow-up visits are $185, with sliding-scale pricing available. If you use insurance, your cost depends on your plan, and we verify your benefits before your first visit. If you are uninsured or paying out of pocket, you are also entitled to a Good Faith Estimate.
What is your cancellation policy?
- Please cancel or reschedule as early as you can so the time can go to another patient. We keep a card on file and charge the self-pay balance up to 48 hours before your appointment, and no-shows and late cancellations are billed an $80 fee. See insurance & payment →
What happens at the first visit?
- Your first appointment is a complete psychiatric assessment — an open conversation about your history, symptoms, and goals — followed by an individualized care plan.
How soon can I be seen?
- New patients are typically seen within 1–3 business days, and we reply to every message within that window. If you are using insurance, we verify your benefits before your first visit so you know your cost up front — that step can occasionally push the first appointment a little later.
Who will I see?
- You will see Josephine W. Hazeley, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a special focus in perinatal mental health. Care is built around one continuous clinical relationship. Meet your clinician →
Do you prescribe medication?
- Yes. Medication management is a core service, used thoughtfully and collaboratively as part of your plan.
What if I am in crisis?
- If you or someone you love is in danger, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. This website is not for medical emergencies.
How do I get started?
- You book your first visit yourself on Headway, the partner that handles insurance and billing for the practice — create an account, add your insurance or a payment method, and pick a time. Start from our Get Started page. If you would rather talk to someone first, call (919) 739-3808 or email info@mindfulcounselingandwellness.com.
